Egyptian schools

A new academic year started in Egypt Monday.

Around 50,000 schools opened their doors to some 19 million students across the country.

Education Minister el Helaly el Sherbiny told MENA his Ministry had taken all measures to prepare for the new academic year.

"We are seeking to restore discipline to schools," Sherbiny said, stressing that both students and teachers should regularly attend.

About 90 percent of school books have been sent to education directorates, the minister noted.

The remaining 10 percent won't be very late, he assured.

He made it clear that after-school classes will be organized with the aim to help students with subjects they find difficult to grasp from the first time.
