Amman - Petra
The Jerusalem municipal council has given the green light for the construction of a Talmudic school in a predominantly Arab neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem.
Haaretz daily Thursday reported that the plan for the new school has been approved by the Jerusalem Municipal Planning and Building Committee about six months ago, but a council member asked for the municipal council to debate the decision.
Following a short and stormy debate, the plan was passed by a large majority of rightists, the daily said.
