Education Minister Moheb el Rafei met with a delegation of the World Food Program under Lobna Alman to discuss aspects of cooperation between the two sides.
The minister underlined the importance of school meals and following high standards in their manufacture and storage to preserve the health of students.
The meeting addressed educational opportunities, fighting child labor and school dropouts and increasing the rate of student attendance to 80%.
The WFP covers 16 of the poorest governorates in Egypt: Fayyoum, Minya, Beni Suef, Sohag, Assiut, Qena, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, Beheira, Sharqiya, Dakahlia, Qalubiya, Gharbiya, Kafr El Sheikh and Matrouh.
It aims to overhaul 3,500 schools according to national standards and build the capabilities of 7,000 teachers.
