The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be remade as a TV movie.
The project is currently in development at Fox, and envisioned as a two-hour, taped television special.
Kenny Ortega (Hocus Pocus, High School Musical) will direct, choreograph and executive produce the film, with original producer Lou Adler and Gail Berman as co-producers. The movie is expected to follow the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien.
The special is tentatively titled The Rocky Horror Picture Show Event, and described as a visual "reimagining" of the original film. Berman initially set up the project at Fox in 2002, saying she was a longtime fan of the movie at the time.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show premiered in in 1975, with Sharman as director and Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as stars. The film is based on the 1973 musical of the same name, and became a cult classic still shown in theaters today.
