Today" show personality Al Roker apologized for blasting New York Mayor Bill de Blasio for not canceling school for a snowstorm. The veteran weatherman chastised de Blasio on Twitter for not shutting down the city's schools as a foot of snow fell Thursday. Roker said he realized it would be inconvenient for parents if their kids had to stay home from school, but ultimately the weather was too dangerous. "It's about safety, safety first for children," Roker said. He took to Twitter, saying de Blasio made a mistake and predicted the mayor would only serve one term. "On the one tweet, I do regret ... I'm very passionate about the weather. I made a prediction that there would be only one term of his administration. I apologize for that. That was a little below the line. Everything else, I still stand by including that the National Weather Service did forecast that on Wednesday," Roker said Friday on air. De Blasio responded to Roker's criticism during a news conference Thursday as he closed schools early, the New York Daily News reported. "It's a different thing to run a city than to give the weather on TV," he said. "I respect all the meteorologists out there but the one I respect the most is called the National Weather Service."
