Hamburg - Arabstoday
Hamburg-based media service provider CC Content Company will launch its pay-TV package with foreign-language TV channels in Germany on 11 January 2012. The special approach: The offering will not be delivered to subscribers' TV screens through cable or satellite, but through conventional internet lines. To receive the over-the-top TV bouquet (OTT), viewers will need a hybrid TV set or set-top-box hooked up to the internet compliant with multimedia standard HbbTV. The broadband internet line should at least have a data rate of 2 Mbps. The target group of "International TV" are foreign citizens wanting to watch original TV channels from their home country in the local language. The first offering will be a Hindi-language package containing Star Plus, Star Gold, Star News and Star One. The channels, which are among the most popular services in South-East Asia, will thereby become available in Germany for the first time. The monthly subscription will cost €15.90. Further packages are to follow. Parent company Mediapool Content Services announced its plans for a foreign-language offering in HbbTV in May 2011 . The software and content management system for "International TV" was developed by IT service provider Assense Software Solutions. The Hamburg-based company is also responsible for the server infrastructure, the connection to a payment system and subscriber management services.
