Damascus - SANA
Sham FM Radio, in cooperation with Ministries of Information and Culture, has organized an honoring ceremony for 40 families of journalism martyrs who lost their lives for truth to come out.
The ceremony, which was co-organized with SyriaTel Company at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts, coincided with the Radio’s 7th anniversary.
Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi, who attended the ceremony, said martyrs have always been at the center of the Syrian people’s interest.
“The government’s efforts have centered on providing care for the martyrs’ families as a Constitution-guaranteed national policy…for their sacrifices are unequalled in the world,” he said.
Thanking Sham FM Radio for the gesture, Culture Minister Lubana Mshaweh said the ceremony is but a small token of what should be done in homage for the sacrifices of martyrs.
Writer Hassan M. Youssef pointed out that “Our lives are an extension of the martyrs’ sacrifices who offered their lives for Syria to remain strong,” hailing the role of journalism in this regard.
