A Somali TV journalist died overnight of wounds he sustained on Tuesday after assailants shot him several times as he drove to work in Mogadishu, officials and local media organization said on Sunday. The death of Tima Adde who worked with UK-based Somali language Universal TV as Mogadishu correspondent is the seventh journalist killed in Somalia this year. Mohamed Mohamoud Tima Adde was attacked early on Tuesday by unknown gunmen who blocked his car with a vehicle as he left his home, and shot him in the chest, head and neck. He had been at the Madina hospital in Mogadishu since, where his death was announced by medics. \"The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) mourns for the death of the Somali journalist who was sustaining severe injuries at the Madina Hospital in Mogadishu,\" said the local journalist union in a statement. Last year was the worst for Somali media as 18 journalist were killed in the horn of Africa nation considered by media watchdogs as the worst country for journalists to operate in Africa. The Somali government strongly condemned the killing of the journalist and pledged to do all it can to bring those behind the targeting of the media to justice.
