President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday issued law no. 92 of 2016 on the "institutional regulation of the press and media in Egypt" after it was approved by parliament.

The new law cancels law no. 13 of 1979 on the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) and the fourth chapter of law no. 1996 on regulating the press.

The executive regulations of the law will be issued through a decision by the prime minister within three months as of the date of enforcement.
