Parliament discusses crisis between Journalists Syndicate, interior ministry

The House of Representatives started Sunday to discuss the current crisis between the Syndicate of Journalists and the Interior Ministry.

Abdel Aal said that he received a number of urgent statements regarding the current crisis between the Journalists Syndicate.

MP Haiytham el Hariri said that it is not suitable to talk about this crisis in respect of the souls of the martyrs.

MP Osama Sharshar, meanwhile, called for following up the order issued in forms of signs by ousted president Mohamed Morsi during his trial for killing policemen.

He also said that the Egyptian press preserves the prestige of the state institution, including the police.

He further said that he submitted an initiative to contain the crisis between the Syndicate and the Interior Ministry.

MP Abdel Hamid Kamal said that he told the chief of the journalists syndicate to hold direct contact with the parliament speaker in a friendly session to solve the current crisis.

Last week, police raided the syndicate's premises in central Cairo and arrested two wanted journalists.

Police said that they acted on an arrest warrant issued for two journalists, Amr Badr and Mahmoud Al Saqqa, accused of inciting unauthorized anti-government protests.
