A group of visiting journalists from Pakistan have proposed the establishment of an Urdu TV channel dedicated for the overseas Pakistanis in the UAE and other GCC states. The proposal was made during a meeting between Jamil Ahmed Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, and the journalists’ delegation headed by Hamid Saeed Rajput. Rajput was leading a four-member delegation of print and electronic media from Islamabad and Karachi. They discussed potential initiatives to further highlight the achievements of OPs and their role in the development and progress of the emirates. The group also proposed stationing a team of Pakistan Television (PTV) in the UAE to cover the successful community activities. “I appreciate these proposals. Our community has made remarkable contributions in strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two brotherly countries,” said Khan. He assured the visiting journalists that his office would take the lead in forwarding the proposals to Qamar Zaman Kaira, his country’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, along with his own recommendations. “This would be another step in galvanising the overseas Pakistanis in the Emirates with the latest activities in Pakistan,” said the ambassador.
