Board Chairman of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Sabah on Wednesday wrapped up a visit to Bahrain during which he took part in meetings of the Secretariat of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) and the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).
FANA's meeting tackled a number of files designed to bolster coordination among Arab news agencies in sectors such as training and participation in international events.
Sheikh Mubarak, also KUNA's Director General, had taken part in a meeting grouping FANA and OANA for expertise exchange and boosting cooperation at various levels in the sector.
KUNA holds the deputy chairmanship of FANA. The Kuwaiti news agency's delegation was headed by Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij and included Issam Al-Ruwaih, the head of the news agency's international relations department.
FANA's Secretariat held its annual meeting in Manama on Monday under chairmanship of FANA President and Director General of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah Al-Hussein. The meeting discussed a range of files, namely coordination between the Arab wire services, the joint training programs for editors of the FANA member agencies.
During its latest conference, held in Saudi Arabia in November, FANA's General Assembly reached a number of highly-important decisions on partnerships with other regional organizations.
Current members of FANA Secretariat are KUNA, the SPA, Egypt's Middle East News Agency (MENA), Qatar News Agency (QNA), Morocco News Agency (MAP) and Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
