Egyptian journalists' syndicate

Osama Dawoud, head of the social care committee at the Syndicate of Journalists, said Saturday the blast which hit the Italian consulate in downtown Cairo smashed some glass windows of the Syndicate HQ close to the blast scene.

In statements to MENA, Dawoud said the syndicate's council discussed forming a technical committee to assess the damage caused by the blast on the building's facade.

An Iftar banquet and a swearing-in ceremony to welcome trainee members are likely to be delayed in the wake of the blast, he added.
