Iran begins trial of detained Washington Post reporter

The closed trial of an American-Iranian reporter for the Washington Post detained in Iran for more than 10 months has begun in a court used to hear security cases, according to ABC News.

The trial of Jason Rezaian began Tuesday in a Revolutionary Court, saying he has been charged with espionage and propaganda against the Islamic republic.

U.S. officials have repeatedly pressed for the release of Rezaian and other Americans jailed in Iran. The Washington Post has criticized Rezaian's detention and the handling of the case.
