Minister of Information Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah

Minister of Information Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said here on Tuesday that Kuwait seeks to establish an independent TV and radio organization to provide world-class services and compete with international media.
"We always seek the best and the world is heading towards restructuring (media) sectors to be bodies that enjoy more capabilities and administrative and technical freedom away from government and official bureaucracy that cripples in certain points the specialized technical work," Sheikh Salman said during the inauguration ceremony of a new satellite broadcasting station.
"Our goal is to have a TV that is leading and pioneering in form and content." Sheikh Salman, also Minister of State for Youth Affairs, said the decision to establish a TV and radio organization was already approved by the cabinet since 2006.
"We hope to have the ability to put the state's plans into effect and to market and promote the government achievements as well as to produce media products that are attractive to the whole society, particularly youth," the Minister said.
He pointed out that the Kuwaiti TV has made inroads last year.
Kuwait TV's viewership and commercial revenues have remarkable ballooned, he noted.
Sheikh Salman stated there is an ambitious plan to upgrade the different Ministry sectors, especially the technical and engineering sector, in the coming stage.
