An Egyptian press advocacy group has called for a complete media blackout on Sunday, in protest against what it calls “assaults on journalists” carried out by President Mohammed Morsi in a recent speech. The media watchdog held its “Charter of Honour” conference at Egypt’s Journalists’ Union on Wednesday, urging new legislation criminalising government interference in media. The group condemned recent Islamist protests outside Cairo’s Media Production City in October 6 City.
