Cairo - MENA
The Cabinet approved on Monday the draft law of press and media, said Planning Minister Ashraf el Araby.
The draft law will be referred to the State Council and then be submitted to the House of Representatives for endorsement.
This law will be unified for press and media, said el Araby, adding that the government aims to support media.
Speaking at a press conference at the Cabinet premises, el Araby said that the current draft of the bill was approved by the formed committee, which groups the ministries of justice, legal affairs and planning with the appointed figures from representatives of the media and press institutions.
The Constitution includes three articles to the organization of media through setting up three bodies; the Higher Council for Media Organization, the National Commission of Journalism and the National Commission of Media, he went on to say.
The law gives full independence to the three bodies, he affirmed, adding that the necessary amendments of the draft law were conducted in cooperation with the state-owned, private press institutions and the various media institutions.
