Communication Minister Hamid Grine

Minister of Communication Hamid Grine on Monday in Oran called for professionalizing the press, urging the journalists to "contain in the daily practice of their profession the willingness to change things for the benefit of their profession and that of the country."
 Speaking on the sidelines of a lecture by Pr. Mohamed Ridha Najar on the topic of: "Deontology of the journalist in the time of scoop and the sensational stories", the minister has reaffirmed his determination to professionalize the press.
"Professionalizing the press doesn’t mean cross-checking and sourcing a news only, but also respecting ethics and deontology," he explained while reminding the creation of "virtuous circle" in past June.
Grine said that the journalists must make a change in the practice of their profession "otherwise, our project will have no impact on the ground," he said.
"Press professionalization depends on training, notably through the meetings initiated by the ministry, but also the establishment of various bodies by the law," he added.
The minister highlighted his determination to "undertake the project of the press professionalization."
The Minister attended the lecture given by Professor. Mohamed Ridha Najar, communication consultant and expert of the Institute of Press and Information Sciences of Tunis.
The conference is organized as part of a training program initiated by the Ministry of Communication for the benefit of journalists.
