MG Motor, a division of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, is preparing an SUV concept for the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. The MG Icon Concept, known internally as the AS21, has been unveiled in a half-dozen official sketches and shows the pre-production version of an upcoming model for the Chinese market in 2014.The Icon is based on the Roewe 350 and MG 5 (both Chinese market-models), is the same size as the Nissan Juke and should run on a 135hp 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The concept features a flexible and functional interior, consisting of four bucket seats - the rear of which can be folded for improved storage space.Exterior styling for the five-door SUV concept is reminiscent of the original MGB GT model. Seen in the sketches here apparently smoking, we hope that is just for added effect and not indicative of its Shanghai-built quality. Suicide rear doors add to the Icon Concept\'s allure while oversized wheels give the SUV a more distinct presence. The MG Icon Concept will make its official debut at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. The event kicks off on April 23rd.
