Mitsubishi will close down its European plant a the end of the year due to lack of sales, and models will be imported from other global factories. One of the models affected by the move is the Colt supermini. It will be replaced by the new Mirage, a car built in Thailand which seems to be oriented at budged buyers, where as the Colt was a Fiesta rival in its time. According to Mitsubishi’s business plan, the Mirage will arrive in Europe in Europe during the third quarter of the 2012 fiscal year, which actually means between October and December. Our team of spy photographers have caught up with the car as it was testing on European roads, with light camouflage covering part of the front and rear lights. However, we really can’t see much in the way of actual differences between this and the Asian model, and we’ve been squinting really hard. The Mirage will be sold with a choice of 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter petrol burners that will get the latest regenerative braking, start-stop and fuel saving CVT technologies.
