New car registrations in Germany, a key gauge of demand in one of the most important sectors of Europe\'s biggest economy, fell again sharply in August, official data showed Tuesday. Around 226,600 new cars were registered last month, an decrease of five percent year-on-year, the German auto industry federation VDA calculated in its monthly statistics. The figures brought new registrations for the year to date to 2.109 million cars, a drop of one percent from the same period last year, the federation said.
