A Japanese smartphone accessory dubbed Scentee teams with an installed app to give notifications in the form of released scents rather than sounds. Scentee, created by Japanese company Shift, plugs into the antenna socket of an iPhone or Android smartphone and takes instructions from an app to release scents when the phone receives a notification, website Engaget reported Monday. The available scents include coffee, mint, cinnamon roll, rose, apple, strawberry, lavender, curry and jasmine. The limited edition Korean BBQ collection of scents, scheduled for a Nov. 15 release, includes two types of meat smells and baked potato. The company said a bacon scent is currently in development. Scentee is being sold though Amazon Japan and the company said it will ship to the United States.
