Masked attackers were involved in a botched bid to blow up a power station in Fayyoum on Sunday.
Security forces managed to thwart the attempt and opened fire at them.
There were about seven persons riding three motorcycles.
They managed to escape, throwing Molotov cocktails in their possession, witnesses said.
One of the attackers was believed to be shot by security forces, they added.
Security forces combed the area and found four Molotov cocktails, while another one exploded close to the sentries without causing any injuries.
