Paris - SPA
The final stance of France's government to the sale of Alstom's energy division depends on a deal between Paris and Alstom
shareholder Bouygues, President Francois Hollande said Saturday, according to dpa.
A requirement that the government gave Friday in backing the bid by
US-based General Electric against a joint offer from Germany's
Siemens and Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was that the
government acquire a 20-per-cent stake in the spinoff, which would
make it the biggest shareholder. It intends to buy that stake from
Bouygues.
At the moment, the government and Bouygues are discussing what the
price of those Alstom shares will be, Hollande said.
