Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy

Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy underlined the need of diversifying energy resources in Egypt.
Speaking during a meeting organized by the Egyptian-European Council under its president Mohamed Abou el Enein, Fahmy said that the ministry implements regulations to use coal in generating power in line with European standards.
Egypt will need about 67 megawatts by 2030 and this will be difficult in light of the increase of energy needs, so it is important to find other alternatives, he added.
The environment and economy are interrelated, the minister said during the meeting, which was attended by a number of European Union (EU) ambassadors.
