Cairo - MENA
Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has rejected a project to link the Nile and Congo River due to various technical and political hindrances.
In a statement, the ministry said the project is highly expensive and faces political obtacles.
"We need to better concentrate on Renaissance Dam talks and means to address water losses at the Nile feeders and tributaries," the ministry said in the statement.
The ministry has briefed the presidency and the cabinet on its technical study and its rejection of the project on technical and financial grounds, it said.
