Abu Dhabi - WAM
Tadweer (The Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi), has launched a complimentary door to door service to allow Al Ain residents to safely dispose their household bulk wastes such as old furniture and large electrical and electronic devices.
Residents are invited to call toll free number 800 555 to request for the free service. Tadweer will send an authorised company within 48 hours to coordinate with the caller to arrange for the collection and transportation of waste in an appropriate manner.
The service comes as part of Tadweer’s efforts to ensure environmental safety, and maintain high hygienic standards and the overall aesthetic appearance of the Al Ain city.
Nael Rashid Al Shamsi, Tadweer’s Al Ain Branch Manager said, "The household bulk waste collection service articulates Tadweer’s vision to provide improved services to the citizens and residents of Al Ain and create a sustainable and healthy environment within the city. Through offering the service, we aim to ensure that all household bulk wastes are disposed in a proper manner, while eliminating the hazards of illegal dumping." Al Shamsi reiterated Tadweer’s commitment to conform to the local health, safety and environment standards in the collection and disposal of bulk wastes. Urging community members to contact the call centre should they have unwanted household furniture, he made it clear that that the collection and disposal of bulk waste will be done only from outside the houses and places with easy access, and not from any of the indoor areas.
In cooperation with its strategic partners, Tadweer pursues an active strategy in applying sustainable waste management practices such as waste reduction at source and waste reuse and recycling. To educate public about the importance of waste reduction and recycling, Tadweer conducts a series of public outreach programmes to complement its year-round initiatives and campaigns.
