The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministers of Water and Electricity held here today an extraordinary meeting of the Council\'s electric and water cooperation committee. The meeting was chaired by Saudi Minister of Water and Electricity Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Hossain. During the meeting, the committee discussed a number of issues including water linkage and security among GCC countries. Al-Hossain delivered a speech which included an outline of the meeting\'s main goals, stating that it comes to fulfill what has been agreed upon at the 14th consultative meeting of GCC leaders in regards to directing attention towards the water sector and formulating the policies necessary for water linkage and security as well as sustainable management of water resources. From his part, GCC Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs Abdullah bin Juma Al-Shebli delivered a speech on behalf of GCC Secretary-General Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al-Zayani. Thanks to the direction of GCC leaders, all nations are progressing rapidly in the electric and water cooperation field, Al-Zayani said, indicating efforts for more growth constantly exerted by the GCC and underlining water linkage as a prerequisite for security.
