Cairo - MENA
The Supreme Council for the River Nile Protection held a meeting on Sunday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Housing. The council warned the owners of factories against the disposal of wastes into the Nile, threatening that the plants will be closed if any violation was reported. It also announced that regular visits will be paid by the concerned authorities to ensure the factories' commitment to the environmental requirements. "The protection of the Nile River will be a main national project in Egypt," the council said, adding that the government will take all the required actions to keep the Nile water clean.
