Jaimie Alexander will return as Lady Sif on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The 30-year-old actress first portrayed the Asgardian warrior in Marvel film Thor and its sequel, Thor: The Dark World, and made her debut on the ABC series in season one. Alexander confirmed she will reprise the character in season two by retweeting a fan post Monday.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET, and will return from mid-season break March 3. Alexander will appear on the March 10 episode, and the story will see Lady Sif lose her armor and short-term memory in battle.
"Sif has no idea who Thor is or that she serves a king, and we're going to have fun with that," executive producer Jeffrey Bell told TV Insider. "It'll give us some much-needed humor in a season that's been full of betrayal and death. Sif can't even recall who she came here from Asgard to stop, but Agent Coulson and his team will try to help her figure that all out."
"We've been dealing a lot with space aliens and Inhumans in our last few episode -- things our Earth-bound heroes just don't know much about," he said, adding Sif will remember her childhood and Asgardian identity. "They need help understanding what's really going on. Sif's memory -- what's left of it -- will come in very handy."
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered in 2013, and stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Grant Ward and Chloe Bennet as Daisy "Skye" Johnson. The series surmises Agent Coulson survived his apparent death in The Avengers and continued to oversee S.H.I.E.L.D. operations.
Alexander is also known for portraying Jessi Hollander on ABC Family sci-fi show Kyle XY and Tunie Peyton on Showtime drama Nurse Jackie. The actress will appear on new HBO comedy The Brink, and is scheduled for London Fields with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
