Hurricane Jose strengthened to a Category Two storm Thursday, as it followed in the path of Hurricane Irma, US weather forecasters said.

The National Hurricane Center said the storm, located east of the Lesser Antilles, was packing winds of 105 miles per hour (165 kilometers per hour)

"Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Jose is expected to become a major hurricane on Friday," the NHC said.
