EU leaders will declare themselves "united in diversity" after Brexit at a special summit in Rome to mark the bloc's 60th anniversary, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Friday.

"The motto is that we are united in diversity," Merkel said after an EU summit devoted to preparing the March 25 meeting in Rome that will officially map out a post-Brexit future for the European Union.
