Italy's top court upheld a 16-year jail sentence against the captain of the doomed Costa Concordia cruise liner Friday, five years after it sank off Tuscany killing 32 people.
Francesco Schettino, dubbed "Captain Coward" by the press for abandoning the stricken ship during the tragedy, handed himself in immediately to the Rebibbia prison in Rome, according to his lawyer.
