Venezuela's Supreme Court

The US Treasury slapped tough sanctions on eight members of Venezuela's Supreme Court on Thursday, charging them with undermining the deeply divided country's democratic legislature in support of a corrupt government.
The eight justices "are responsible for a number of judicial rulings in the past year that have usurped the authority of Venezuela's democratically-elected legislature," the Treasury said.
Those rulings included "allowing the Executive Branch to rule through emergency decree, thereby restricting the rights and thwarting the will of the Venezuelan people."
