Snipers shot and presumably killed a suspect in a standoff by the Dallas police headquarters in Texas, the head of the department said Saturday.

"Snipers shot at the suspect... through the front windshield of the van, striking the suspect," Chief David Brown told reporters, adding that a robot was inspecting the vehicle to determine whether the suspect was wounded or dead.
