At least 10 troops were killed when they were ambushed by unidentified rebels in a restive part of northeast India on Thursday, police said.

"At least 10 army men are reported to be dead in the ambush which took place at around seven in the morning," said N Herojit, superintendent of police in the district of Manipur state where the attack took place.
