US Secretary of State John Kerry met Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the highest-level US talks on Russian soil since the start of the Ukraine conflict.

Putin hosted the top US diplomat at his summer residence in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, and the two men shook hands, after Kerry met for four hours with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
