The Hungarian government said Wednesday it plans to deploy the army to help stem the flow of migrants crossing from Serbia, with parliament set to vote on the move at an extraordinary session next week.

The government wants to "make possible the use of the army for tasks related to border defence and migration," said Szilard Nemeth from the ruling Fidesz party, deputy head of the National Security parliamentary committee.
