French President Emmanuel Macron told the UN General Assembly on Tuesday that a new diplomatic 'contact group' on Syria should be created to help end the six-year war.

Delivering his maiden speech to the world body, Macron said talks shepherded by Russia, Iran and Turkey "were not enough" and called for the new diplomatic effort.
