James Comey, the FBI chief abruptly fired by President Donald Trump this week, enjoyed and continues to enjoy "broad support" in the agency, the FBI's acting director said Thursday.
"Director Comey enjoyed broad support within the FBI and still does today," Andrew McCabe told the Senate Intelligence Committee two days after Comey was dismissed.
"I hold director Comey in the highest regard. I have the highest respect for his abilities and his integrity," McCabe added.
