The Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders will resume UN-led talks on reunification of the island on June 28 in Geneva, a spokesman for United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced Friday.
Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades and his Turkish Cypriot counterpart Mustafa Akinci will meet under UN auspices, with Greece, Turkey and Britain as guarantor powers, and the EU as an observer, the UN statement said.
The eastern Mediterranean island has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded its northern third in response to an Athens-inspired coup seeking union with Greece.
