Egyptian director Rami Iman, son of the stalwart Adel Imam, said charges against his comedian father of “defaming Islam” were fabricated. "We know that the judiciary will do justice to my father, and he who filed a claim against him has to know that he will not succeed in achieving his intention which is just stirring fanfare around himself," said Rami. Imam said: "I'm surprised with the claim and the sentence, especially as the claim is dealing with issues going back several years," pointing that they had appealed the decision of three months imprisonment and a fine of 1000 Egyptian pounds. "The charge against my father is fabricated," he added.
