The number of Syrian refugees in the Zaatari camp and in Jordanian cities stand at 230,000 including 100,000 registered with the UNHCR, according to Syrian refugees affairs media spokesperson Inmar Hmoud. Hmoud told Petra on Monday that the government seeks to encourage Syrian refugees to register with the UNHCR to enable their children to enroll in schools and provide them with health and care and food in order to ease pressure on Jordan that result from the influx of Syrian refugees on a daily basis. He urged donor countries to provide support to Jordan to limit the negative impact resulting from the increasing number of refugees on Jordanian municipalities and cities. Saudi Arabia, Hmoud said donated up to 2,500 caravans that will replace tents in the camp to protect the refugees during the cold winter. Meanwhile, concerned authorities took the necessary measures to host 183 Syrian refugees who crossed into the Kingdom yesterday due to the continued violence in their country.
