Eight policemen were killed and ten people wounded in a suicide truck bomb attack targeting Iraqi police in Iraq's northern province of Kirkuk, a provincial police source said on Sunday. The attack occurred in the morning when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden truck into a police checkpoint and blew it up in the town of Debis, 35 km northwest of the provincial capital city of Kirkuk, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. A police officer and a Kurdish security guard were among the killed, the source said, adding the wounded included three civilians, the source said. The ethnically mixed city of Kirkuk, some 250 km north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, is part of the disputed areas claimed by the Kurds and both Arabs and Turkomans.
