At least nine security men were killed and several others were wounded when a security convoy hit a roadside bomb in northern Pakistan on Thursday, said officials. A statement by media wing of Pakistan military, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed that at least nine security personnel were killed and several others were critically wounded in Ghulam Khan Tehsil of North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan. The Frontier Corps (FC) convoy struck the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was planted on the roadside. The IED was detonated as the security forces convoy came near the Miramshah road. Additional security forces reached the site of the incident and cordoned off the area as a search operation went underway. The wounded were immediately shifted to the nearby military hospitals in Miranshah and Bannu areas. North Waziristan is one of the seven regions in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) governed by tribal laws that is facing militants' insurgency for last many years.
