At least 48 militants were killed following military operations during the past 24 hours in Afghanistan, defense officials said Monday.
Gen. Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan, said the operations were conducted during the past 24 hours in various provinces.
He said at least 48 militants, including seven Pakistani nationals, were killed during the operations.
Gen. Azimi further added that four commanders of the anti-government armed militants were also killed and various types of weapons, ammunition and explosives were confiscated.
At least three Afghan national army soldiers were also martyred during the past 24 hours, Gen. Azimi said.
He did not disclose further information regarding the exact location where the Afghan army soldiers were martyred.
The anti-government armed militant groups, including the Taliban militants, have not commented regarding the reports so far.
