At least 13 militants were killed in an air raid launched by Pakistani army in the country's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Wednesday, officials said
Inter-Services Public Relations, the mouthpiece of Pakistani army, said in a statement that the troops, backed by jet fighters, pounded five hideouts of suspected militants in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, a restive tribal area along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Identities of the killed militants have not been revealed yet.
Wednesday's airstrike is a continuation of the ongoing armed offensive "Operation Zarb-e-Azb" in North Waziristan which has so far claimed the lives of over 2,000 suspected militants in the area.
The army launched the operation last year to flush out foreign and local militants from the agency which was being used as a base by the terrorist since the U.S.-lead war on terror in Afghanistan in 2001.
Talking to media earlier last week, the country's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the operation has destroyed sanctuaries of terrorist and there is no chances of failure in the operation.
