Moroccan singer and father of Saad Lamjarred, Bachir Abdou is reassuring Lamjarred’s fans, saying that his son is only “experiencing boredom” in his cell in Fleury-Merogis prison.
Following the recent rumors that have circulated on social media, claiming that Lamjarred has been sentenced to ten years, Abdou took to his Facebook page on Thursday to dispel them, saying Lamjarred, “is in a good health – he is only experiencing boredom, since he has not accustomed to such dire circumstances as those inside the prison.”
Speaking on behalf of Lamjarred’s family members, Abdou went on to say, “We regularly visit Lamjarred – we only wait for the end of the legal procedures that take much time,” noting that, “Lamjarred will return to his fans with a high morale.”
Following his arrest in Paris last October for the alleged sexual assault of Laura Prioul, a 20-year-old French woman, Lamjarrad’s case has been progressing for nearly three months.
In December 2016, the Paris’ Court of Appeals decided to keep the Moroccan singer in pre-trial detention due to the delay of his trial date with Laura Prioul.
The judge decided to reject Lamjarred’s request for parole after his lawyers filed a bail application on his behalf earlier this month.
It was reported that Lamjarred’s court appearance with Prioul has not been scheduled yet. This delay is due to various letters of request, which are still in progress.
