The latest music video by Kuwaiti singer Shams has attracted criticism from fans and critics because of the clip’s rather racy content. Many said the video to “Ashtah” had crossed the line as far as Gulf traditions were concerned. In the clip she is trying to seduce a man who is surrounded by “maids” wearing skimpy outfits. The way she was dressed was also criticized. In an article published in Riyadh daily, Shams’ appearance in the video was described as cheap and alien to Gulf culture and music. The report described her as a singer looking for trouble and always having fights with other women singers as a way to get attention because her talent is limited.
