The iconic British comedy troupe Monty Python has unveiled its new official website, which is adorned by the ecclectic artwork of member Terry Gilliam.
"It contains an assortment of all the latest news from the world of Python and Python-related activity, direct links to upcoming releases and competitions, the Monty Python YouTube channel, online store and iTunes page, and a media section with a selection of exclusive, new and archive videos and photographs," an introductory message said on montypython.com Monday.
"You can visit the interactive Fan Wall to see Python-related content posted by fans from all over the world, and have your own content featured on the wall by using #montypython, #montypythonlive and #onedownfivetogo," the post continued. "This is just the start of what will become the definitive online site for all things Python -- just as soon as we are able to wade through (and dust off) the tons of photos, memorabilia and articles that are tucked away at Python HQ."
Gilliam, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Terry Jones and the late Graham Chapman starred in the groundbreaking sketch comedy show Monty Python's Flying Circus, starting in 1969. The Pythons also collaborated on several movies before they stopped performing together as a group in 1980. They worked together in various pairings on numerous non-Python projects and participated as an ensemble in a panel discussion in 1998 at the Aspen Comedy Festival. They also reunited for a string of farewell shows this year.
